01 KICKOFF MEETING | Both campuses are back in session, and the sidewalks downtown are carrying more people than they were in July. September is the good stretch here: the concerts are still outside, the markets are still running, and nothing has asked you for a coat yet. Four of the things below are free, and the most expensive one costs $85 and comes with a chairlift. Two of them are farmers markets in two different cities. |

02 THE ASSIGNMENT | Orem City Center Park, free, Wednesday the 16thCode Blue Revival plays City Center Park in Orem on Wednesday, September 16, at 7:00 PM, and the Orem Summer Concert Series charges nothing at the gate. Bring a chair or a blanket. Seating is whatever you carry in. The reason it leads the issue: a free outdoor concert on a Wednesday is a thing almost everybody can say yes to. A BYU senior, a UVU commuter, and a couple in Orem with a folding chair all clear that bar without negotiating. Of everything free this week, this is the best one to bring a date to, and it is not close. A market is an errand and a concert is a plan. City Center Park, Wednesday the 16th, music at 7:00 PM. |

03 THE COURSE LOAD | THURSDAY Utah State Fairpark $15.75 ADULTS, $10.75 AGES 6 TO 12 AND 62 PLUS, UNDER 5 FREE Thursday, 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Utah State Fairpark. Admission is $15.75 for adults, $10.75 for ages 6 to 12 and for 62 and over, under 5 free. It is the only item here outside Utah County. Budget a full day. |
Lindon City Center Park FREE Lindon City Center Park, Thursday, free. The listing gives no start time, so confirm before you drive out to Lindon. Saturday's Provo market prints 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM; this one does not post hours. If the drive matters, Saturday's market is the safer plan. |
SATURDAY Pioneer Park FREE Pioneer Park, Saturday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, free to walk in. The lots around the park fill as the morning goes. Nine o'clock or one o'clock beats eleven o'clock, every single time. Bring cash, and bring a bag you can carry home full. |
SCERA Center for the Arts $10.00/PERSON EACH CLASS SCERA Center for the Arts runs adult ballroom lessons on Saturday at 7:00 PM, $10.00 per person, paid per class instead of per season. This one is small next to everything else in this issue, and it is priced like it. |
TUESDAY Gallery 402 FREE UVU's Gallery 402 has a painting and drawing exhibition on Tuesday, and it is free. The listing does not post gallery hours, so treat it as a between-classes stop. Unlike the 7:00 PM concert in Orem, this one gives you no start time to plan around. |

04 ROUGH DRAFT | University Parkway is the file we are building, and this week there is nothing on it we can stand behind. Two independent signals or it does not print, and the second signal never showed up, so no lane count runs here this week. We go back to it Monday morning. |
|
|
05 EXTRA CREDIT | Ten dollars, one Saturday. The ballroom class at SCERA is $10.00 per person, paid per class, and the Provo market that morning costs nothing to walk into. OPEN SLOT Fueled by nobody yet. The sponsor slot in this issue is open, and it is labeled every time it runs, paid or not. It goes to one business a week, and only to one we would send a friend to. If that sounds like yours, write to hello at The Group Project. We answer every one. |

|
06 THE CURVE | Both of this week's canyon items sit at Sundance, so the drive is part of the plan. Friday brings Owl Bar live music, and the page lists no cover and no start time. Ask before you commit the evening. Sunday's Mountain Top Yoga is $85, and that includes the lift ticket. It is the most expensive thing in this issue by a wide margin, and everything else here is free or close to it. Dress for a mountain in the morning, not for the valley you left. The canyon is the commute either way, and it adds time on both ends of the night. |
|
|
07 OFFICE HOURS | We print a closure only when two independent signals agree. Readers see the road before any city calendar does. So here is the week's ask: Which University Parkway intersection do you now route around on purpose? Answers go to the Group Project tip line. |

08 TURNED IN | Most clicked last week: not enough clicks to rank yet. This week's are being counted. I drove to Pioneer Park two Saturdays ago for tomatoes and came home with bread, soap, and no tomatoes. The bread was worth it. I am going back on Saturday anyway. Forward this to your roommate, and point them at the Group Project signup. Then reply with one answer: what do you buy at a market every single time, whatever else you skip? See you on the lawn in Orem. |
