01 KICKOFF MEETING | September split the difference this week: cold enough at seven to want a jacket, warm enough by noon to resent carrying it. Saturday piles up, with a market downtown at nine and another one up the canyon at eleven. Thursday opens the week in Lindon, and Friday has a show downtown and one at Sundance. I circled Pioneer Park twice last Saturday, parked four streets out, and I still do not know where you are supposed to park downtown. |

02 THE ASSIGNMENT | Harvest Mini Markets run Saturdays at SundanceHarvest Mini Markets take the Village Lawn at Sundance Mountain Resort every Saturday, September 19 through October 10, 11am to 4pm, free. Artisans, craftsmen, food and live music, per the resort, which calls it a community celebration. Saturday is the first of four. This is the pick because everyone in the car can say yes to it: free, outdoors, and done by four. The drive is the cost: up the canyon and then Alpine Loop Road, in the last full week of September. Bring cash anyway. If you go: there is nothing to buy ahead, so a flake in the group costs nothing. The downtown market closes at 2, so both fit in one Saturday, market first and canyon after. Three more Saturdays follow if this one rains. |

03 THE COURSE LOAD | THURSDAY
Lindon City Center Park hosts the Sunset Farmers Market on Thursday: produce and artisan goods. Provo's own runs Saturday 9am to 2pm, so take Thursday if your weekend is not free. Lindon sits just north of Orem, the short drive for anyone on that end. |
FRIDAY 425 W Center ST., Provo, UT 84601 Whitney Lusk and WILDWOOD co-headline the Covey Center Main Stage on Friday at 7:30pm, 425 W Center Street. Country, two acts, powerhouse vocals and harmonies per the city's listing. Worth a free Friday. |
Bad Frances plays the Owl Bar at Sundance Mountain Resort on Friday. Local musicians take the stage weekends and the occasional weekday, per the resort. I would leave Provo by 7pm and keep the rest of the night free. |
SATURDAY 500 West Center, Provo, Utah Pioneer Park, 500 West Center, Saturday 9am to 2pm, and again on Saturday the 26th. Local farmers and local businesses. It is the one thing on this week's list that happens twice. Bring a tote and keep one hand free. |
Fort Collins, Colorado BYU plays Colorado State at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins on Saturday at 5:30pm. The road games and the home dates both sit on the BYU football schedule, which is the page to keep open for the rest of the fall. Free if you stay in Provo. |
Saturday at 7pm, UCCU Stadium in Orem, UVU women against Weber State. It is the latest start of the day, still going after dark. Keep the evening free if you want all three. |
WEDNESDAY 135 N University Ave, Provo, UT. 84601 Velour Live Music Gallery hosts its open mic on Wednesday at 8pm, 135 N University Ave in Provo. Local performers, in whatever order they sign up. Go if your Wednesday is free, and go early if you plan to sign up. |

04 EXTRA CREDIT | OPEN SLOT Fueled by nobody yet. This slot is open and labeled either way, so when somebody does buy it, the word Sponsored goes on top. Until then the slot stays empty, so if you sell something in Provo or Orem and you would tell a neighbor about it, write the sponsor desk. |
Three Locals: bakeries and dessert shops Chip Cookies on N Freedom Boulevard. 4.6 on Google, 2167 ratings. Roll Up Crepes on E University Parkway, 4.2 on Google from 1068 ratings. CHOCOLATE a dessert cafe on S State Street. 4.4 on Google, 1027 ratings. Three places in Provo and Orem, pulled off the map by review count. Nobody paid for this and we are not vouching for anyone. Reply if we got it wrong. |

05 THE CURVE | Saturday is stacked: Pioneer Park runs 9 to 2, the Sundance lawn 11 to 4, and UCCU Stadium starts at 7. The lawn sits on Alpine Loop Road, so the canyon is the part that eats the clock. The rest of the week is easier. Lindon's park on Thursday, the Covey at 7:30 on Friday, Velour at 8 on Wednesday. None of those needs more plan than showing up. Downtown, the parking gets easier a couple of blocks west of Pioneer Park and not before. Of the three Saturday things, the lawn is the one I would keep. |

06 OFFICE HOURS | If something big is happening in Provo or Orem and it is not in here, I did not know about it. Send the link with no pitch attached to the Group Project inbox. And one question for you: Provo or Orem for a first date under $20, and where exactly? |
|
|
07 TURNED IN | I drove Alpine Loop last October and spent the whole way home doing math about how much earlier I should have left. This year I am going at eleven, when the lawn opens. Pass this along and point them at where to subscribe to The Group Project. Then hit reply: downtown market or canyon market? It takes one reply and I read all of them. See you Thursday, same inbox. |
