01  KICKOFF MEETING

Four things this week, and that is the whole board. This one is a Reading Week issue: shorter, same rules, nothing invented to fill the space. Every slot with something in it still gets written.

The daylight goes earlier every night now, which has ended the outdoor half of the semester without a vote. Friday holds two of them and Saturday holds the other two. Two of the four cost nothing, and one of those two has free dessert.

02  THE ASSIGNMENT

Art After Dark: free jazz and free dessert

Art After Dark takes over the BYU Museum of Art on Friday night, 7 to 10pm, and admission is free. The photography on the walls is Gordon Parks. The band playing underneath it is live jazz, running the same three hours.

Photo activities run in the galleries, and the galleries stay open all three hours. The desserts are free. The whole night is built around the Gordon Parks photographs on the walls, and none of it is ticketed.

If you go: Friday, 7 to 10pm, free, and walking in at nine still gets you a full hour. The other Friday option, a chocolate tasting at Taste117, starts at 7pm and costs $22 a person.

OPEN SLOT

Fueled by nobody yet. The slot is open, it carries a label every week either way, and right now nobody has paid for it. If you run something in Provo or Orem that a reader with one free Friday should know about, email us about sponsoring.

Three Locals: dentists

Young Family Dental Orem is on S State Street. 4.6 stars on Google, 1797 ratings.

Thompson Orthodontics on Center Street. 5 stars on Google, 1570 ratings.

Three places in Provo and Orem, pulled off the map by review count. Nobody paid for this and we are not vouching for anyone. Reply if we got it wrong.

THE-CURVE.LOG

05  THE CURVE

Art After Dark runs 7 to 10pm on Friday and the Taste117 chocolate tasting runs 7 to 9pm. Both start at seven, so Friday is a choice and not an itinerary.

Saturday spreads out instead. Harvest Mini Markets runs 11am to 4pm at Sundance Mountain Resort, and Rum Jungle goes on at 7pm at Velour in Provo, which leaves three hours in between.

OFFICE-HOURS.MSG

06  OFFICE HOURS

If something big is landing in Provo or Orem, we want it on the board before Thursday. Concerts, markets, festivals, anything open to the public.

Send the date, the address, the price and a link, and we will do the rest. You can send us the details.

TURNED-IN.TXT

07  TURNED IN

Four items and I would still put the free one first. A museum handing out dessert with a live band in the room beats most paid Friday nights in this valley, and it is not close.

What do you do with a Friday when nothing on the list fits? Reply and tell us, and forward this to the roommate who says nothing happens here.

Back Thursday.
